Featuring the work of over 35+ writers and artists, reigning from Portland and beyond, this publication contains a variety of poems, short fiction, photography and more.

Justin Hocking, author of "A Field Guide to the Subterranean: A Memoir" writes, "Pile Press is the most progressive, vibrant, and genre-fluid new literary journal in Portland."

Emily Moon's poem "Trigger Trauma" reads, "syndromes syncretize / old wounds and new anxieties / into intrusive thoughts // intrusive thoughts / web their way through echoes / of long-edged memories // long-edged memories / crackle the present with flashstrikes / of old lightning storms".

Audrey Larson's short story "Free Apples" reads, "A box of apples is placed on the street corner. Blocked darkly on the front is the word: FREE. The tree they used to belong to is still busy scenting the air out behind the house that the apples now temporarily reside in front of. It is September, yet the sun still lends enough warmth to the evening air to continue persuading that nostalgic fragrance into clouding heavily around the yard as the sky goes pink and gold at the edges. The tree sighs, the house sighs, the apples, in chorus, sigh."
